Imam Hussain (A.S.): An Embodiment of Insight and Steadfastness
A Beacon of Resistance for All Humanity

The 10th of Muharram, Yaum-e-Ashura, marks the most sacred and heart-wrenching moment in Islamic history — the martyrdom of Imam Hussain ibn Ali (A.S.), the grandson of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), in the fields of Karbala.
“Every day is Ashura, and every land is Karbala.”
This is not merely a slogan — it is a timeless call to stand for truth, justice, and human dignity against oppression.
Qur’anic Verses: Echo of Karbala
Although the Quran does not mention Karbala by name, many verses embody its spirit:
وَلَا تَحْسَبَنَّ الَّذِينَ قُتِلُوا فِي سَبِيلِ اللَّهِ أَمْوَاتًا ۚ بَلْ أَحْيَاءٌ عِندَ رَبِّهِمْ يُرْزَقُونَ
“Think not of those who are slain in the way of Allah as dead. Nay, they are alive, with their Lord, receiving sustenance.”
— Surah Aal-e-Imran (3:169)
قُلْ لَا أَسْأَلُكُمْ عَلَيْهِ أَجْرًا إِلَّا الْمَوَدَّةَ فِي الْقُرْبَىٰ
“Say [O Prophet]: I ask no reward from you except love for my family (Ahlul Bayt).”

Sayings of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH):
«حُسَيْنٌ مِنِّي وَأَنَا مِنْ حُسَيْنٍ، أَحَبَّ اللهُ مَنْ أَحَبَّ حُسَيْنًا»
“Hussain is from me, and I am from Hussain. May Allah love those who love Hussain.”

Sermon of Imam Ali (AS) foreshadowing Karbala:
Imam Ali (A.S.) once said: «صَبَرَ الحُسَينُ حَتّى أُعْطِيَ المَوتَ حَقَّهُ»
“Hussain endured with patience until death gave him his right.”
In Nahj al-Balagha, Imam Ali (AS) described those who support truth:
“The most courageous of men is the one who speaks the truth in the face of tyranny.”
Sunni scholars including Imam Ghazali and Imam Jalaluddin Suyuti honored Imam Hussain’s (AS) sacrifice.
Imam Ahmad ibn Hanbal stated:
“There is no day like the day of Hussain in terms of calamity.”
Imam Jafar al-Sadiq (AS) said:
«كُلُّ يَومٍ عاشُوراء، وكُلُّ أرضٍ كَربَلاء»
“Every day is Ashura, and every land is Karbala.”

Allama Iqbal’s Tribute to Imam Hussain (AS):
غریب و سادہ و رنگین ہے داستانِ حرم
نہایت اس کی حسین، ابتدا ہے اسماعیل
“The tale of the sanctuary is full of grace and hue,
It begins with Isma’il, it ends with Hussain (A.S.).”
قتلِ حسین اصل میں مرگِ یزید ہے
اسلام زندہ ہوتا ہے ہر کربلا کے بعد
“The killing of Hussain is indeed the death of Yazid;
Islam is revived after every Karbala.”
Josh Malihabadi:
انسان کو بیدار تو ہو لینے دو
ہر قوم پکارے گی ہمارے ہیں حسین
“Let mankind awaken first,
Then every nation will claim: Hussain is ours.”
Mir Anees (Marsiya):
کیا بادشاہی ہے کہ سر نیزہ پہ قرآن
کیا عزتیں ہیں کہ گھرانے لٹے جاتے ہیں
الفرزدق قال عن الحسين (ع):
قل للذي بعث الحسين مجاهداً
غَرَّتكَ دنياك، الحسينُ لهُ اللهُ
“Say to the one who stood against Hussain,
Your world deceived you, for Hussain is with Allah.”
الشيخ عبد المنعم الفرطوسي:
وَحُسَيْنٌ لِلنَّبِيِّ سِبْطٌ كَرِيمٌ
قُتِلَ الظُّلْمُ فِي طَفٍّ وَهُوَ حَيٌّ
“And Hussain, the noble grandson of the Prophet,
Was slain in Karbala, though truly alive.”
Imam Hussain — A Universal Light
Imam Hussain (A.S.) is not just a figure in Islamic history. He belongs to all people, all generations, and all humanity who stand for justice. His sacrifice at Karbala echoes the cry of every oppressed soul and inspires every seeker of truth.
Indeed, as every free human heart declares:
“Hussain is ours.”
“Labbaik Ya Hussain!”
اللّهُمَّ اجْعَلْنا مَعَ الْحُسَيْنِ فِي الدُّنْيا وَالآخِرَةِ، وَارْزُقْنا زِيَارَتَهُ، وَثَبِّتْ أَقْدَامَنا عَلى نَهْجِهِ، وَاجْعَلْنا مِنْ أَنْصَارِ الْحَقِّ وَدُعاةِ السَّلَامِ.
اللَّهُمَّ ارْزُقْنَا بَصِيرَةَ الْحُسَيْنِ، وَشَجَاعَةَ الْحُسَيْنِ، وَصَبْرَ الْحُسَيْنِ، وَاكْتُبْنَا مَعَ الشُّهَدَاءِ وَالصَّالِحِينَ.
اللَّهُمَّ صَلِّ عَلَىٰ مُحَمَّدٍ وَآلِهِ الطَّاهِرِينَ، وَالْعَنْ قَتَلَةَ الْحُسَيْنِ، وَكُنْ لِلْمُسْتَضْعَفِينَ نَاصِرًا، وَلِفِلَسْطِينَ مُحَرِّرًا.
